Case Study: Combining SEO and Google Shopping Ads to Drive E-commerce Growth

Driving E-commerce Growth with SEO-Backed Google Shopping Ads

We worked on an e-commerce project with a clear objective: increase sales through Google Standard Shopping Ads and Performance Max (PMax) campaigns.

The Merchant had approximately 2,000 products across multiple categories, making it impractical to optimize the entire product catalog at once. To ensure a focused and strategic approach, we selected around 200 products from different categories for the initial optimization.

We optimized the selected product listings in Google Merchant Center, along with their corresponding product pages on the website, following SEO best practices. We also optimized several important Merchant Center factors to improve product data quality, relevance, and visibility.

After optimizing the product listings and the Merchant account, we focused on the paid advertising campaigns. We optimized the Google Standard Shopping and Performance Max campaigns, including campaign settings, relevant ad assets, audience signals, product targeting, and other key campaign factors.

We also implemented essential Google Ads conversion tracking, including eCommerce purchase/revenue tracking and other relevant conversion goals, helping Google receive better conversion data for campaign optimization and bidding strategies.

Results: The results were impressive (Nov 2024 – Dec 2024). 🚀

💰 Ad Spend: ~$7K

💵 Sales Revenue: ~$63K

📈 ROAS: ~900%

🎯 The Bottom Line

Our approach combined SEO-focused Google Shopping product listings improvement with strategic Google Shopping Ads campaign optimization.

First, we focused on improving product relevance, visibility, and listing quality by optimizing product data and corresponding website pages. Then, we optimized the Standard Shopping and Performance Max (PMax) campaigns while strengthening conversion tracking to provide more accurate and actionable data for bidding, performance analysis, and ongoing optimization.

We call this strategy "SEO-Backed Google Shopping Ads Campaign Optimization".

The key takeaway: Better product data + Better landing pages + Accurate tracking + Campaign optimization = Stronger Shopping Ads performance (E-commerce Growth).
